One thorny problem with having a really decent online conversation was that it used to be very hard to systematically track comments I left at various blogs and sites. That problem has been mostly solved.
For a week, I've been using CoComment: a free online service that allows me to generate RSS feeds indicating when follow up comments appear.
It's not a perfect solution, since it doesn't integrate well yet with all blogging platforms. For instance, the Poynter Online site reacts strangely when I use this tool to track comments I leave on E-Media Tidbits or other blogs or articles here. Otherwise, I consider this tool a necessity for people who converse online.
