Susan Glasser, who was named the Post's national editor late last year, "is a manager who combines high standards with sharp elbows," says Erik Wemple. Some complain she favors younger reporters and that she's tough to deal with, but executive editor Leonard Downie Jr. likes what she's putting in the paper. "There's more inside information about what's going on in Washington, which is what the Washington Post should be doing," he says.
