Newsvine
It's MSNBC.com's first acquisition. Newsvine is a Seattle-based, six-employee startup that lets site visitors  post and comment on stories, and write articles of their own. "We think the two [sites] go together very well, and as we see research that shows that active news users go to many Web sites and are not beholden to just one, we want to be able to offer that diversity of choices to our users," says MSNBC.com publisher Charlie Tillinghast. Terms of the all-cash deal weren't disclosed. || Related from MSNBC.com, Seattle Times, Post-Intelligencer, and NYT.
