Retired USA Today White House correspondent Richard Benedetto asked his American University students if burying or ignoring the lower US troop deaths in September indicated an anti-war bias on the part of the editors or their papers. "While some students said yes, especially the conservatives, most attributed the decision to poor news judgment. They were being generous," says Benedetto.
