Even if Landmark sells its four midsize daily newspapers, it's impossible to predict whether they would be bought as a group or individually, write Bill Burke and Philip Walzer. CEO Frank Batten Jr. tells them said he'll steer clear of "inappropriate buyers," but doesn't elaborate. The greatest share of Landmark's profits comes from The Weather Channel. Next largest is Dominion Enterprises, a conglomeration of publications and websites. Coming in third is Landmark's collection of newspapers and two TV stations. || Related story.
