Jay Kernis helped launch NPR's "Day to Day," "News & Notes," "Tell Me More" and "The Bryant Park Project." He also directed the overhaul of "Morning Edition" in 2003. An NPR memo says: "We've promised his new employer that we wouldn't pre-empt their announcement, which will come shortly." The memo discloses that Kernis, a former CBS News producer, will return to TV.
