Charles McGrath's
essay struck PBS ombud
Michael Getler as strange. "It could easily be seen as an unmarked editorial placed in a very prominent, top of the page spot in the nation's leading newspaper," he writes. "Its position seemed to suggest a newspaper's endorsement." He notes, too, that the article contained no original reporting and no comment or response from PBS.
