Cleveland Plain Dealer
The eight largest papers in Ohio are now sharing their best stories with each other through a network called OHNO (the Ohio News Organization). "Most of us would swallow our notebooks before we'd share what's in them with another reporter," writes Ted Diadiun. "[But] we almost always break our stories online now as soon as they happen, so they're not exactly a secret from the other newspapers anyway." More editor/ombud columns:
> Robinson has had it with retired editors' "good old days" stories (N-R)
> ASNE meeting wasn't the glum affair you might think it would be (ATU)
> Union-Tribune cuts the amount of info permitted in free obits (SDU-T)
> LATer regrets "stupid, blind error" regarding George Washington (LAT)
> Express-News staffers turn in green cards, become US citizens (SAE-N)
> Hoyt: Locy's case is a powerful argument for a federal shield law (NYT)
> Zeeck: I know that subtracting content isn't a great idea, but... (TNT)
> Sensational stories about e-mail bring in questions, complaints (N&O)
