Homework, But No Home
After a long day of school and extracurricular activities, there is nothing quite like going home.  A somber edition of Al's Morning Meeting, "Homework but no home," reminds us that not all students have that luxury.

Bring the important issue of student homelessness to light.
  • Search for students with the courage to talk about their story; getting it out there is the first step toward receiving aid.
  • If you can't find students willing to talk publicly, research groups in your community who work to combat homelessness. Ask them about their experiences with homeless high school students.
  • Contact your county school district. Al's story originated in San Luis Obispo, Calif., where the school district keeps an official count of homeless teens.
