After a long day of school and extracurricular activities, there is nothing quite like going home. A somber edition of Al's Morning Meeting,
"Homework but no home," reminds us that not all students have that luxury.
Bring the important issue of student homelessness to light.
- Search for students with the courage to talk about their story; getting it out there is the first step toward receiving aid.
If you can't find students willing to talk publicly, research groups in your community who work to combat homelessness. Ask them about their experiences with homeless high school students.
Contact your county school district. Al's story originated in San Luis Obispo, Calif., where the school district keeps an official count of homeless teens.
